Tornike Rijvadze - We plan to Increase the Number of Visitors to Ajara to 6 million, and the Republican Budget to 1 billion GEL by 2025

Tornike Rijvadze, the Chairman of Ajara AR Government held a working meeting at the Ministry of Finance and Economy. Plans to be implemented in 2023 and main directions were discussed at the meeting. Jaba Putkaradze provided information on current economic, privatization, investment and budget processes to the chairman of the government.

At the meeting, the chairman of the government announced important news in the direction of tourism – ‘a new cable car and ski track will be added to the Goderdze resort, which is being worked on with the agency of mountain resorts.’ In addition, it is planned to establish a new tourist infrastructure on Mount Ghoma and the Castle of Hearts’.

According to the head of the government of Ajara, the republican budget has doubled in the last 4 years and by 2025 it is planned to increase the budget to 1 billion. In 2022, 3.9 million visitors visited Ajara, and the goal of the Ajara government is to increase the number of visitors to 6 million by 2025.

‘We have an increase in direct foreign investments, which proves that the country, the region maintains a stable business environment. Both local and foreign investors have full confidence to invest their capital in our country and, in particular, in our region, which will affect the income growth of each family living in Ajara. Tourism remains a priority direction. Therefore, everywhere, both in Batumi and in the municipality, we must develop a new tourist infrastructure, which will allow us to attract even more visitors,’ said Tornike Rijvadze.

The development of tourism as the leading sector of the region remains one of the main priorities of the government. The budget of the tourism department increased by 62%. 155 million GEL will be spent on the development of sports tourism. At this stage, the Ajara Project Management Company is implementing up to 10 large-scale sports infrastructure construction projects in different municipalities.

The meeting was attended by the Minister of Finance and Economy of Ajara Jaba Putkaradze, members of the government and economic team of Ajara.
