At the third European Games 2023 in Poland, athletes achieved significant success. Batumi athlete Zurab Kintsurashvili brought the gold medal to Georgia. At the 2023 European Championship in Greco-Roman wrestling, Gigi Paksadze became the European champion. At the 2023 European Youth (U20) Championship in Greco-Roman wrestling, Achiko Bolkvadze won the title of European champion for the fourth time.

According to the decision of the government of Ajara, the winners and runners-up in the European, World, and Olympic championships, as well as their coaches, will receive significantly increased prize money from the budget of the Autonomous Republic of Ajara this year.

It was also mentioned at the meeting that the construction of sports infrastructure and the arrangement of training spaces of international standards for athletes will continue. The meeting was attended by the Minister of Education, Culture and Sports of Ajara, Maia Khajishvili, and the head of the Sports Department, Irma Nizharadze.
