Meeting with the Mayor of Astana

The Chairman of Ajara AR Government Zurab Pataradze met with the Mayor of Astana Asek Issekeshev in the frames of Ajara AR Government delegation’s visit to Kazakhstan. The acting Ambassador of Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia in Kazakhstan Revaz Sakvarelidze; the Minister of Education, Culture and Sport of Ajara Inga Shamilishvili; the Minister of Agriculture Lasha Komakhidze and the Head of Tourism and Resorts Department of Ajara Sulkhan Ghlonti attended the meeting.

The sides discussed issues of cooperation in trade, economic and tourism. Zurab Pataradze introduced his Kazakh colleagues with the tourist and investment potential of Ajara. The Chairman presented the region’s sea and mountain potential. Zurab Pataradze also emphasized MICE and sports tourism development potential and noted that interest towards these directions grows. Along with the several important projects, Zurab Pataradze also talked about the sports bases improvement and future prospects connected to Ajara that is to become a center for sport activities.

‘It was a very interesting meeting. We have discussed many important issues. Trade Mission was planned, therefore Kazakh businesspersons will arrive who are interested to develop trade relations with Georgia. Tourism and its development is very important for Kazakhstan, like us. That is why we planned meetings between Georgian and Kazakhstan ministries,’ – Zurab Pataradze noted.

Regular season and charter flight from Astana-Batumi was one of the most important issues. The sides discusses the opportunities of additional flights for the future. The Kazakh side expressed its willingness and consent to this issue. The Mayor of Astana also expressed his interest towards the presentation about investment and tourism potential that was made yesterday during the forum. As he said, investment and tourism forums give the best opportunities to deepen cooperation between countries.

‘We shared our opinions in terms of economic and culture. We talked about tourism. We planned future meetings, which will contribute to the development of culture and medical field’ – Asek Isekeshev noted after the meeting.

One of the most important decisions made at the meeting is Kazakh businesspersons’ visit to Ajara, where they will be introduced with the investment and tourist potential of our region.
