Coronavirus Task Force holds Meeting at Ajara AR Government

Meeting of a Coronavirus Task Force has been held at the Government of Ajara today. Specific measures were discussed to stabilize the epidemic in the region.

Tornike Rijvadze, the Chairman of Ajara AR Government assessed the current situation and noted the control has been significantly strengthened and large-scale thermoscreening is underway.

‘As you know, the epidemic situation in Batumi and the region as a whole remains noticeable. Accordingly, a meeting is underway with the Minister of Health of Georgia and the head of the Center for Disease Control. We discuss specific measures that on the one hand serve to stabilize the epidemic and at the same time actively manage existing patients. All agencies are involved in the process. The bed fund has already increased in Ajara and no longer represents a deficit. A number of patients are treated in coveted hotels. Mostly these are asymptomatic patients. At the same time, I would like to note that the shortcomings in the part of delays have been eliminated together with the Emergency Management Service.

I repeat once again that we have already strengthened control and will strengthen even more. Police forces are involved in the process, to which epidemiologists are added. Therefore, it is important for all citizens to follow the recommendations, to refrain from mobility as much as possible and this situation will stabilize in a few days’ - said Tornike Rijvadze.

Minister of Health of Georgia Ekaterine Tikaradze and head of the National Center for Disease Control Amiran Gamkrelidze are in Batumi, meetings are being held with the leaders of the medical sector.
